Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia and Singapore are among a dozen countries that will take part in the Asia Karate-Do Championship 2015 to be held here from October 30.
The three-day event will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Port Stadium.
Speaking after releasing a brochure of the tournament, District Collector N Yuvraj said the government was keen to develop all sports in the district to develop it as a hub of sporting activities.

He said the district administration will take all necessary steps to develop sports from school level upwards by creating best infrastructure.
The administration will extend help to ensure smooth conduct of the karate championship, Yuvraj said.
Secretary of the Karate Association of Inida Bharat Kumar said 12 countries will take part in the championship being organised by United Shotokan Karate-Do India (USKI).
