Assam House asks Centre to reinstate spl Category status

The Assam Assembly today unanimously adopted a resolution demanding the Centre to reinstate the Special Category status to Assam immediately.

The government resolution was moved by Planning and Development Minister Ajanta Neog and it was accepted by all.

The resolution demanded the Centre to reinstate the earlier status regarding the funding of Central schemes.

Following withdrawal of the status, the funding pattern was changed from 90:10, where 90 per cent of money was coming from the Centre.

The House also decided to send an all-party delegation to the Centre for pressing its demand for Special Category status to Assam.
