Astrologer held for molesting police officer's daughter

A 62-year-old city-based astrologer was today arrested for allegedly sexually molesting the daughter of a city police officer when she visited him for consultation, police said.

The astrologer was arrested from his residence at Garfa area of the city this afternoon after the 26-year-old woman, who is his neighbour, lodged a complaint of being sexually molested by him during consultation yesterday.

After the alleged incident, the woman allegedly drank a disinfectant this morning and was taken to a hospital from where she gave her statement to the police.

The woman is daughter of an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Kolkata Police posted at its headquarter Lalbazar, police said.
