At least 17 protesters were killed today in fresh clashes between thousands of demonstrators and heavily-armed riot police in the heart of Kiev.
The bodies of at least 10 demonstrators with apparent gunshot wounds were lying on the ground outside Kozatsky hotel on one edge of central Kiev's Independence Square while another seven bodies were inside the Ukraine hotel on the opposite edge of the protest encampment, the AFP reporters said.
