Attack on CBI officials: 5 surrender in court

Five persons wantedin connection with the April 8 attack on CBI officials surrendered before a court in Vadipatti here today.

Kannan, Parthasathi, Subramani, Nagenthirakumar and Chellamuthu surrendered before a court in Vadipatti, police said.

They were remanded to 15 days judicial custody and later taken to the central prison in Madurai, police said.

The main accused in the case, Ashokraj, a central excise department Superintendent, had surrendered before a court in Chennaion April 13.

Three persons, including another Superintendent of Central Excise Department were arrested on April 13.

They were Samy, the Superintendent, Muthupandy - a driver and one Sararavanan, who were also remanded to 15 days judicial custody by a court.
 

The CBI officials were attacked when they were questioning the Superintendent in connection with a bribery complaint on April 8.
