An Australian national was arrested from Chamoli district after being allegedly found in possession of a satellite phone, banned in India, a senior police official said today.
Stuart Ian Scott, who hails from Queensland, Australia, was arrested from Alkapuri area of Badrinath yesterday after he was found carrying the phone, Chamoli Superintendent of Police (SP) Tripti Bhatt said.
A case has been registered against Stuart under Indian Telegraph Act at the Badrinath police station, Bhatt said.
Earlier, a man from New Zealand was arrested from Badrinath in Chamoli district for not having a legal passport, she said.
