Avalanche warning extended in Valley

Authorities today extended the avalanche warning by another day in five districts of Kashmir Valley and advised people not to venture into avalanche-prone areas.

"An avalanche warning exists for next 24 hours from April 3 to 4 in the avalanche-prone areas of Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts," an official spokesman said.

He said people of these districts are advise not to venture in avalanche prone areas during above mentioned period.

"During heavy snowfall, people are also advised not to occupy and temporarily evacuate those locations which are under fall line of avalanches," the spokesman said adding the Deputy Commissioners concerned are asked to take all precautionary measures so as to avert any untoward incident.
