Awards of Print Biennale India 2018 distributed

The awards of Print Biennale India 2018 organised by Lalit Kala Akademi here were given at a function today.

Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma in a message congratulated the winners of the event in which the participants were from the USA, China, Israel, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Argentina, and other countries.

"I appreciate all the beautiful prints on display and the outstanding effort of the Academy that contributes and makes us aware of the contemporary trends in art. I also extend my compliments to the Lalit Kala Akademi for supporting and encouraging contemporary artists through this biennale," Sharma said in his message

However, Sharma could not attend the event due to some personal reason.

 

The winners of the biennale were Arup Kumar Kuity (Andhra Pradesh), Satya Narayana Gavara (Andhra Pradesh), Preya Bhagat (Uttar Pradesh), Purvi Parmar (Gujrat) and Sonal Varshneya (Uttar Pradesh).

Apart from the five winners eight other printmakers were chosen for appreciation mention by the jury of the competition.

A total of 1,126 entries of 415 artists across the globe - including 364 of Indian artists - were received, a statement released from the Akademi said.
