AWWA felicitates war widows

The Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) felicitated war widows here as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

War widows of 1962 Indo-China war, Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971 as well as operations in Sri Lanka and Kargil, who are staying in Mathura, Aligarh and Hathras districts, were felicitated during a week-long programme held at the Mathura Station.

"The activities were essentially planned to interact and ascertain the problems faced by these Veer Naris whose husbands laid down their lives defending sovereignty of the nation," Zonal President, AWWA Strike 1, Daphne Chauhan, said.

Dental mela, a medical camp and an awareness campaign for women empowerment were also other programmes held during the occasion.
 

Around 450 ladies and children attended the function week-long function.

AWWA, a non-governmental organisation, works for the welfare of the wives and children of Army personnel.
