B.Tech student get life term for murdering friend

A district court has sentenced a B.Tech student to life imprisonment for murdering his friend.

The convict and the victim were students of B.Tech second year in Dwarahat Engineering College.

The incident occurred on April 19, 2012, when Jagrat, a resident of Saharanpur, attacked Santanu, a resident of Moradabad, with a knife following a verbal duel over monetary issues at college's Annual Day function night.

Santanu later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

The court awarded life imprisonment to Jagrat yesterday and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
