Baby handed over to mother

A new-born girl, who was thrown

in a forest area by her father in an inbriated condition was rescued by a local woman and re-joined her mother, police said here today.

Police said after a quarrel with his wife Maheswari, Pandiarajan took away the baby delivered on September 22 at Tiruppatur government hospital and did not return yesterday.

He later dropped the baby in the forest area near Nallakulam Pattinathar Durgah.

Amma Ponnu, local woman who heard the cries of a baby behind the bushes took the kid to her house and informed the police, who advised her to take care of the baby till they traced the mother.
 

Meanwhile, Maheswari who was shocked to see her husband returning without the baby went to Natham bus stand in search of the baby on his advice. The local people told her that her baby was with Amma Ponnu.

Police conducted an investigation and hanved over the kid to her.
