Badal gives nod to install 5 multi-crop drying centres in Pun

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has given his nod to set up five multi-crop drying centres to ensure remunerative value of farmer's produce by reducing its moisture content.

Badal cleared the proposal this morning at his office, an official spokesman said here.

He further said that these multi-crop drying centres would be set up a cost of Rs 5 crore each and would have four dryers with six tonne capacity.

As per the decision of the state government these centres would be set up in Focal Point Phuglana or Kangmai in Hoshiarpur district, Additional Yard Market Kapurthala and at new grain markets of Bhogpur (Jalandhar), Macchiwara (Ludhiana) and Nakodar (Jalandhar).
 

Meanwhile, with a view to promoting fish farming in the state as a part of crop diversification programme, Badal today gave approval to set up a Training Centre at Fish Seed Farm, Hyatpur in Gurdaspur district at a cost of Rs two crore.

This state-of-the-art training Centre, equipped with the latest facilities, would impart the best training to the fish farmers as well as the youth who intend to adopt fish farming as a profession, the spokesman said.
