Bag containing Rs.18 lakh missing from bus

A bag containing a little over Rs.18 lakh was said to be missing from a bus in Dharapuram in nearby Tirupur district, police said.

The bag was carried by a worker with a wholesale vegetable merchant in Mettupalayam in the district.

According to the complaint lodged by one Basha he had collected the money from Paravai, Dindigul and Oddanchattirm and boarded a bus to Tirupur, last night.

As the bus stopped near a motel at Dharapuram, he kept the bag on the seat and got down for a while, but found it missing on return, the complaint said.
