Bagheri clash: Three arrested

Three persons have been arrested in connection with a clash between two groups at Bagheri Toll Tax barrier which left one dead, the Himachal Pradesh assembly was informed today.

Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh told the House that three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence at the toll tax barrier on the intervening night of April 3-4.

One Sukhdev Singh, working at the toll tax barrier, told Nalagarh police that at around 11:30 PM in April 3, a group of 10 people came to the spot. Two of them had pistols in their hands, while others had swords, rods and sticks. The two started firing resulting in the clash. Three persons - Naresh alias Gutti, Avtaar and Jagdish - sustained injuries. While being taken to hospital, Naresh died.
 

Singh said the investigation so far has revealed that the deceased was involved in 15 criminal cases in Ropar district and a dacoity incident at Gora Mora in Bilaspur.

There are linkages between Gara-Mora, Bilaspur case and Nalagarh case and the complainant in one case in the accused in the other case, indicating professional rivalry over toll barrier cash collections, the Chief Minister said.
