Bajrang Dal activists today held a demonstration here against the seminar to be held by Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani on June 14 alleging that it is aimed at promoting "anti-India and anti-national sentiments in Kashmir Valley".

Raising anti-Hurriyat slogans, the activists also burnt effigy of Syed Ali Shah Geelani as they demanded from the state and Centre to ban the seminar.

"It is aimed at promoting anti-India and anti-national sentiments in Kashmir Valley. The state and Central governments must immediately act and ban any such seminar," Bajrang Dal state coordinator, Rakesh Sharma said.

Stating that several known separatists are also supposed to participate in the seminar, he said, "If stringent action is not taken against separatists like Geelani then the unfinished agenda of Muslim League which led to the creation of Pakistan would get fulfilled."

Activists of right-wing group Shiv Sena Hindustan also appealed the state and the Central governments to take measures in stopping the "anti-national seminar" from taking place in the Valley.

Hurriyat Conference, headed by hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, decided to organise a seminar in Srinagar on June 14 to which many separatist leaders, including members from Sikhs groups and Christian community representatives have reportedly been invited.
