Bengal's famous Baluchori silk sari is set for a revival with Tantuja, the state government's handloom brand, and Weavers Studio Resource Centre joining hands to recreate the traditional designs.
The revival initiative has been supported by the MSME and West Bengal Textile Department.
The recreated saris will be showcased by Tantuja at an exhibition naming "Baluchori: Bengal & Beyond" slated to be held at Birla Academy starting November 14 till December 4.

The exhibition will also feature the current designs and status of Baluchori as well as directions for the textile in fashion, home and lifestyle by leading Indian designers.
Praising the initiative, Tantuja MD Rabindra Nath Dey said that "selected" weavers were being trained for the purpose, helping them in the process to earn in addition to their regular earnings.
On November 19, there will a seminar with eminent historians, textile experts, GI deliberation and master craftspersons' perspectives on the initiative.
