The nationwide anti-reservation bandh evoked mixed response in Odisha today, with normal life getting partially hit in parts of the state.

Several shops, business establishments, offices, banks and educational institutions across the state remained shut during the dawn-to-dusk bandh today, police said.

In Mayurbhanj, the district bar association extended support to the shut down.

Vehicular movement also came to a halt in parts of Sambalpur, Balangir, Keonjhar and Koraput districts as bandh supporters resorted to picketing and road blockade, they said.

The strike, however, remained peaceful with no report of any violence from any part of the state, a a police officer said, adding that adequate security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident.
