Banned tobacco products seized

Banned tobacco products worth about Rs 20 lakh were today seized from a parked lorry in a busy market area here, officials said.

During a vehicle check, Commercial Tax Department officials found packets of branded ghutka and pan masala, which are banned in Tamil Nadu.

Investigation is on to trace the owner of the vehicle and also the source of the contraband, weighing over five tonnes, they said.
