Barley prices tumbled by Rs 43 to Rs 1,345 per quintal in futures trading today on speculators selling driven by a weak trend in spot market following increased supply of new crops.
Marketmen said arrivals of new crops into the spot markets mainly kpet prices under pressure in future trading.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for most active near May contract dropped by Rs 43, or 3.10 per cent, to Rs 1,345 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,300 lots.

April contract lost Rs 42, or 3.08 per cent, to Rs 1,323.50 per quintal, in an open interest of 3,950 lots.
June contract slipped by same margins of Rs 42, or 2.98 per cent, to Rs 1,368.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,000 lots.
