Barley prices rose by Rs 29 to Rs 1,487 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by restricted arrivals in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in August contracts surged by Rs.29, or 1.99 per cent to Rs.1,487 per quintal, with an open interest of 700 lots.
However, most-active September contracts, shed Rs.8, or 0.54 per cent to Rs.1,487 per quintal, having an open interest of 8,800 lots.
