Base metals remain weak on global cues

Prices of select base metal fell by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous market today amidst subdued demand and weakening global trend.

Traders said sentiments remained bearish after copper and other base metals declined in global markets after a gauge of manufacturing strength fell to an eight-month low in China.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.7 per cent to USD 6,401.75 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) remained under selling pressure and shed Rs 2 each at Rs 419 and Rs 1,075-1,081 per kg, respectively.
 

Zinc ingot also enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 110-116 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 110-116, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,075-1,081, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 419, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 100, Lead imported 101, Aluminium ingots 162, Aluminium sheet cutting 163, Aluminium wire scrap 165 and Aluminium utensils scrap 162.
