Base metals rises on global cues

Prices of select base metals rose by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased buying by stockists to meet rising demand from consuming industries amidst a firming global trend.

Traders said sentiment bolstered as nickel and zinc led base metals higher in global markets after data signalled improving economic conditions in the US and China, the biggest metals consumers.

Meanwhile,nickel for delivery in three months climbed 1.8 per cent to USD 19,420 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, Nickel (4x4) and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 1,099-1,105 and Rs 436 per kg, respectively. Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also higher by a similar margin to Rs 114-120, Rs 113 and Rs 111 per kg, respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,099-1,105, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 436, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 113, Lead imported 111, Aluminium ingots 168, Aluminium sheet cutting 169, Aluminium wire scrap 171 and Aluminium utensils scrap 168.
