A 22-year-old BDS student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Modi Nagar of the district, police said today.
Modi Nagar police station SHO Deepak Sharma said that deceased Nupur Kashyap Prem, who belonged to Assam and was a IIIrd year student of Institute of Dental Studies and Technology, committed suicide last night.
He was residing in hostel and had returned back from his native place only yesterday, he said.
"A suicide note has been discovered from his room, wherein Nupur has stated that he is committing suicide for not achieving goals," Sharma said, adding, the dead body has been handed over to parents after post mortem.
A case has been registered in the matter and police is investigating to ascertain the actual cause of committing suicide, Sharma said.
