Bengal Governor gives away NCC awards

Fifty-five National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadets of West Bengal and Sikkim were awarded for their outstanding performance in the training year 2016-17.

West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today awarded nine best cadets from the Army, the Air Force and the Navy Junior and the senior Divisions of the NCC, a release issued by the NCC said today.

"Those who have excelled in Shooting championships, girl cadets who won gold medals in Volleyball, Handball and Kho-Kho in NCC National Games and 18 cadets who participated in the Republic Day Parade held in New Delhi have been awarded today," it said.
 

The awardees included Hrithik Jana (Best Airforce Cadet), Sudeep Sonal (Best Army Cadet), Tamanna Sultana (Best Navy Cadet) among others, the release said.

It may be noted that two girl cadets from NCC's West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate were a part of the ten member NCC team that scaled Mt Everest last year.

Major General LB Chand, VSM, Additional DG, NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim, were also present at the award ceremony, the release said.
