The West Bengal government will seek fund from the Centre for providing social securities to the labourers of unorganised sectors, state Labour Minister Purnendu Basu said today.

"The demand will be raised in the proposed meeting of labour ministers of all states with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Friday," Basu said in a meeting here.

"Since a huge number of labourers working in unorganized sector does not enjoy the benefits of Provident Fund, Gratuity and Pension, government has the responsibility to provide them social securities," he said.

Stating that the state government has a target of distribution of 20 lakh Social Relief Cards to the labourers of unorganised sector, he said it had selected 61 fields to help such workers.
