Bengal ranked 15th in Business Reforms 2016 list

West Bengal was ranked 15th out of 31 states assessed on business reforms and ease of doing business by the Centre in association with the World Bank.

The ranking was done under Assessment of State Implementation of Business Reforms 2016, done by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in partnership with the World Bank, studied the extent to which states have implemented DIPP's 340-point Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) for States/UTs in 2015-16.

Based on implementation of reforms, West Bengal was classified as 'aspiring leaders' with a score of 84.23 out of 100, the report said.

In the list Andhra Pradesh has topped the list with a score of 98.78. Along with other 12 other states they are been clasified as leaders.
 

At least 32 State and UT Governments submitted evidence of implementation of 7,124 reforms, a government release said.

The report shows Bengal has made progress in tax reforms, Environment and labour reforms among others.
