Bengal seeks NHPC's termination from Purulia project

Replying to a calling attention motion in the assembly today, power minister Manish Gupta said the progress of work at the NHPC project in Purulia was not satisfactory in the last six months.

Inspite of several monitoring meetings at the district and state levels, work has not been geared up because of poor supervision by NHPC, he said.

The state has sought to give the project to West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) instead, he said.

The minister also said WBSEDCL was involved in executing projects under RGGVY in 10 districts of the state.
