Better facilities for cancer treatment would be made available at the BRD Medical College Hospital (BRD-MCH) here, college sources said today.
The medicine, pediatrics department and blood bank of the Baba Raghav Das Medical College would be upgraded for the purpose.
"Blood transfusion facility would also be made available for treatment," Dr M Q Beg, Head of Oncology Department, BRD Medical College said.
The initiative is aimed at saving patients from making unnecessary visits to Delhi, Lucknow or Varanasi for the treatment, he said.
Earlier, treatment for only two types of blood cancer was available at BRD MCH but with implementation of the planned initiative, other serious types would also be treated here, he added.
