Big cache of arms seized

A big cache of arms was seized by the police today from an abandoned building near Koothuparamba, a CPI(M) stronghold in this district.

The arms included 32 country-made bombs, 14 swords, four axes, a country-made pistol and two bullets and some iron rods which were seized after police conducted a search in the building following a tip-off, police said.

The arms were kept in a gunny bag, they said.

Cases have been registered under Arms Act and Explosives Act 1884, they said.
