Press Trust of India Kochi
Working president of Kerala Bar Owners Association Biju Ramesh, who levelled allegations of bribery against state Finance Minister K M Mani, today approached the Kerala High Court seeking police protection for his life and property.

According to the petitioner, some strangers trespassed into his house and there were attempts to "eliminate" him.

The state government, DGP Vigilance, ADGP Intelligence and Thiruvananthapuram Police Commissioner are the respondents.

The petition is likely to come up before the court on Monday.

Mani, Chairman of Kerala Congress (M), is facing a vigilance probe into the allegation that he accepted bribe from bar owners to renew their liquor licence.

Opposition CPI-M led LDF has demanded the resignation of Mani, but the ruling UDF has rejected the demand and reposed faith in him.
