Bill on seat sharing in professional colleges passed

Karnataka Assembly today passed a bill which provides for recognition of the consensual arrangement between the state government and unaided private professional colleges regarding seat sharing.

The bill is an interim arrangement for current academic year 2014-15, Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil said.

For effective implementation of the consensual arrangement, seats in a private unaided professional educational institutions would be filled for 2014-15 through the Common Entrance Test Cell, he said.

"It will be done in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to government seats in professional educational institutions rules 2006 as amended from time to time," Patil said.
 

He also said the Bill would enable the government to enter into an agreement for 2014-15.
