The opposition BJP today accused the Biju Janata Dal government in Odisha of "failing to provide" a business climate and investment opportunities in the state.
BJP secretary Lekhashri Samantasinghar accused Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of "misleading" people by making "false" claims on the business climate and investment opportunities.
"The state government makes tall claims of creating conducive environment for investors, but in reality, Odishas rank in ease of doing business has slipped from 7th to 14th in the last three years. This is sufficient to say that the government has failed to create an investment-friendly environment in the state," she said.
Ruling BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra rejected BJP's allegation and claimed that the saffron party should appreciate that Odisha tops in the iron and steel production, aluminium production in the country and emerging as a leading exporter in marine products.
Odisha's IT export has also increased, Patra claimed.
"How the BJP leaders are overlooking the achievements of the state government," Patra asked
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with members of Team Odisha today reached Mumbai. While officials will hold the road shows to seek investment, Patnaik is scheduled to meet top industrialists and apprise them of the opportunities available in the state.
