As clashes erupted in several parts of Uttar Pradesh today during immersions of Durga idols, BJP took the opportunity to attack the ruling Samajwadi Party government alleging it failed to maintain law and order in the state during religious events.
"The SP government failed to maintain law and order in the state during religious events like Dussehra mela and idol immersion. More than a dozen incidents expose the preparedness of the government," BJP spokesman Manoj Mishra alleged.
He alleged that violence in Azamgarh, Bhadoi, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar and several other parts expose the "inability" of the government and administration.
The BJP leader also alleged that instead of improving law and order situation the government and its officers were busy making SP convention to be held in Lucknow a success.
