BJP activists strongly criticised the ruling BJD as they assembled at the Master Canteen Square and staged a demonstration holding the state government responsible for the plight of farmers in the state.

BJD, on the other hand, held the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre responsible for the plight of the farmers in the state.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to double the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy if voted to power, but he has not taken any initiative toward this," BJD Kruskhak Cell chief and Odisha's Labour Minister Sushant Singh said.
Meanwhile, the Congress held both the BJP and BJD responsible for the misery of farmers in the state.
"At least five farmers are committing suicide every day in the state. Both the state and the Central governments have closed their eyes toward the plight of farmers," said OPCC President Prasad Harichandan.
Harichandan also strongly criticised the Central government for not making adequate MSP provision on paddy. "While farmers spend above Rs 2,200 for producing a quintal of paddy, they get only Rs 1,550 as MSP on paddy," the Congress leader said.
