BJP legislator from Goa Kiran Kandolkar today demanded a vigilance department inquiry into the questions raised by the MLAs on the floor of the House suspecting that they may be raised out of vested interests.

"Lok Sabha had witnessed cash-for-questions scam. The state government should initiate an inquiry through vigilance department whether similar scam is taking place in our legislative assembly," Kandolkar said while speaking on the floor of the House today.

"Some of the legislators are raising issues which are not relevant. They are not of public importance and they are being asked to benefit certain individuals," he said adding that some legislators were wasting time of the House.

Congress legislator Aleixo Lourenco Reginaldo strongly objected to the statement claiming that the ruling coalition was pressurising the Opposition benches not to ask questions through such acts.

"If there are such instances then it should be brought to the notice of the House. But members should not cast aspersions," he said.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar objected to Reginaldo stating that legislators should not fear the vigilance inquiry.
