The opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP today demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar after the Supreme court upheld the Tripura High Court order terminating the jobs of 10,323 teachers in the state.

"The Tripura High Court had ordered the termination the jobs of the teachers on the plea that the recruitment process was faulty. The Supreme Court today upheld the High Court's judgement. So, this is the fault of the state government and not those persons who got jobs.

"So, we have demanded immediate resignation of the Chief Minister or we would soon launch statewide movement to press for our demand", State BJP President, Biplab Deb told reporters.

TMC leader Sudip Roy Burman also demanded resignation of Sarkar on the same plea and threatened stir in the state on the same ground.
