Black pepper, ginger slip on low demand

Black pepper and ginger prices slipped at the spices market here today on lower demand from stockists amid reduced export offtake.

All other spices ruled stable in the absence of any major buying activity.

Black pepper eased by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 735/805 from Monday's closing level of Rs 740/810.

Ginger bleached and unbleached declined Rs 10 per kg each to Rs 150 and Rs 170 as against Rs 160 and Rs 180, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 735/805 (740/810), ginger bleached (per kg) 150 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 170 (180), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 5,100 (5,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,000 (5,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,000 (9,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 6,500 (6,500).
