Blue Dart Express Q4 net declines 17% to Rs 40 cr

Blue Dart Express Ltd today reported 16.5 per cent decline in standalone net profit of Rs 40.49 crore for the quarter ended March 31.

Its net profit in the year-ago period was Rs 34.74 crore, Blue Dart Express said in a BSE filing.

The standalone total income of the company increased to Rs 639.88 crore, as against Rs 576.21 crore in the year-ago period.

The consolidated result for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 was not made available.

On the consolidated basis, the company's net profit for the year ended March 31, was at Rs 192.75 crore where as the same was at Rs 129.33 crore for the year ended March 31, 2015.
 

"The consolidated financial results of the current year are not comparable with those of previous year," it said.

"The company posted Rs 404.94 million profit after tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 and Rs 1,898.80 million for the year ended March 31, 2016. Net sales/income from operations for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 stood at Rs 6,297.09 million and Rs 25,530.62 million for the year ended March 31, 2016," it said in a statement.

Blue Dart Managing Director Anil Khanna said: "It has been a tumultuous financial year for the express industry and as a business Blue Dart continues to face insurmountable challenges every day.... We have aggressively championed the B2C segment, especially e-tail, without any dilution to the B2B business."

During the year ended March 31, 2016, Blue Dart handled over 159.48 million domestic shipments, 0.89 million global shipments and over 595,623 tonnes of documents and parcels across the nation and 220 countries worldwide.
