The RSS-backed Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has opposed amendments in labour laws in Maharashtra brought on by the BJP-led government in the state.

Terming it as an 'anti-labour move', BMS said the amendment would make the process easier to retrench labourers in the state and stiffen the rules for formation of trade unions.

"After Rajasthan, MP and Haryana, now the Maharashtra government has amended labour laws, made it easier to retrench labourers and harden formation of trade unions. BMS strongly condemns this unwise, anti-labour move," said BMS General Secretary Virjesh Upadhyay.

The union has asked the state government to roll back the amendments, lest they should protest.

"We warn the government to stop anti-labour activities. Otherwise, we will be compelled to hit the street," he said.
