Boat sinks in the Ganga, two missing

"The boat carrying twenty to twenty-five persons sank midstream. Seven were rescued while most others swam to safety. Only a 62-year-old man and a three-year-old child are traceless," Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma told PTI.

Rescue team has been pressed into service to trace them, he said.

All the seven rescued persons were admitted to a hospital and were out of danger, he said and added one of them was already discharged from the hospital.

He said the boat was ferrying the passengers from Bijlighati to Harprasad in the district after 'Sunday Haat' when the mishap took place.
