Body of old woman found stuffed in box

A highly-decomposed body of an old woman was found stuffed in a tin box in Naya Nagar locality in Bhayander township here this morning.

According to Mira Road police, residents of the locality informed them about the tin box lying on the footpath from which foul smell was emanating.

"A police team was rushed to the site. After opening the tin box, a highly-decomposed body of a woman was found stuffed inside," Senior Police Inspector S D Khedekar of Mira Road police station told PTI.

Police suspect that the victim, aged around 65, could have died a a few days back due to strangling. The body of the unidentified victim has been sent for post-mortem.
 

A case of murder has been registered and further probe is on, police said.
