The body of a youth was recovered from Jhelum River this morning, with locals alleging that he drowned in the water body when security forces chased a group of stone pelters in Anantnag district of the Valley.
Body of Shahnawaz Khatana was recovered by police from the river this morning at Sangam in Anantnag district, a police official said.
He said locals alleged that Khatana had drowned in the river yesterday when security forces chased a group of stone-pelters in the area.
Violent protests have been going on for the past 50 days in the Valley following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
