Two objects resembling country bombs were found on a railway bridge in the district today, triggering a brief security scare, police said.
A railway official noticed the objects covered with black thread and attached with wicks on the bridge near Pallipalayam during a routine patrol and alerted higher officials in neighbouring Erode.
Police personnel reached the spot along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and took custody of the objects.
They found that objects were only bottles covered in black coloured threads with a wick attached to them to make them appear as bombs, police said.
They did not contain any explosive, police said, adding further investigation was on.
