Boy killed as fire cracker explodes in Mumbai

A 17-year-old boy was killed and another injured when a fire cracker exploded in Antophill here, police said today.

The incident occurred at Kalpak Chouk, Sangamnagar last night at around 10.30 PM during a religious procession, said Nasir Shekh, Senior Police Inspector of Antophill police station.

During the procession, a group of youth were burning fire-crackers. While Afzal Sakiuddin Khan, was burning a 'sutli-bomb' (a type of cracker) with metal pipe in hand, it exploded, he said.

"Afzal and another 15-year-old boy Moin sustained injuries. The two were admitted to civic-run Sion hospital where Afzal died while undergoing treatment," Shekh added.
