A two year old boy who fell into an open borewell in Nignoor village in Yavatmal district, over 140 kms away from here, last evening was rescued safely in the wee hours today.
Shankar Aakhare fell into the deep borewell at about 4 PM while playing, following which two JCB machines were pressed into the service and they dug a parallel well to reach to the child trapped in the borewell.
Meanwhile, ambulance, fire brigade and other agencies also reached on the site.
He was rescued after sustained efforts of over 10 hours by the Target Disaster Response Force (TDRF) with the help of two JCBs, said Umarkhed SDM Deepak Singla.
He was admitted to a public health centre and is recovering.
"The boy responded and finally at about 3 AM on Sunday, we rescued him safe from the well," said SDO Deepak Singla.
