A Hawaldar of Border Security Force (BSF) has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl near here, police said.
Chotta Singh Rajawat (44), posted at Jammu and Kashmir, is on leave and was in his home at Sita Nagar under Dehat police station area. Last evening, he allegedly lured the six-year girl living nearby into his house and raped her, Dehat Police Inspector Sher Singh said.
Local residents raised an alarm when they came to know about the incident. Soon a group of people assembled and they thrashed Rajawat before handing him over to police, he added.

"We arrested and booked him under IPC Section 376 (punishment for rape) and also Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
"The accused was today produced in a Court which sent him in 15-day judicial custody," he added.
