The mortal remains of a BSF jawan, who was killed in a blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, were consigned to the flames with full military honours at his native Jatusana village, about 18 km from here.

BSF Havildar Hoshiar Singh (42) of the 83 BSF Battalion was cremated last evening.

He lost his life in the blast in Sukma area of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

Two other BSF jawans -- one each from Bharatpur district in Rajasthan and Bagdor district in Assam -- also lost their lives in the blast.

A BSF contingent fired in the air and saluted the martyred Havildar, while Janki Prasad, Block Development and Panchayat Officer of Jatusana, placed a wreath on the pyre on behalf of the district administration.

Hoshiar Singh is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
