A BSF jawan was shot dead by

unidentified persons in a village of Bihar's Sitamarhi district following which angry relatives of the deceased jawan beat up Pupri police station in-charge, police said today.

The assailants barged into the house of the BSF jawan Surendra Paswan in Madhubani village last night and shot at him from close range injuring him grievously, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sharad Kumar said.

Paswan was taken to the local hospital where he died during treatment, he said, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem.

The motive behind the murder of the BSF jawan is under investigation.
 

Angry relatives of the deceased jawan beat up Pupri police station in-charge Rita Kumari who sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, he said.

A case has been lodged in this connection and raids were being carried out to nab the assailants, Kumar said.
