"There is no International Border in Uttar Pradesh and no BSF personnel deployed for operational duties in UP. However, the central government has approved for establishing a BSF Camp at Greater Noida for Frontier and Sector Headquarters," DG, BSF, Subhash Joshi said.
"It would be more beneficial for approx 36,000 personnel under service and retired personnel belonging to Uttar Pradesh," Joshi, IPS officer, said after laying the foundation stone in Plot No 39, near Knowledge Park-5.
Uttar Pradesh government has provided nearly 20 acres land for establishment of Border Security Force Camp. It is the first camp in Delhi NCR region.
Construction of Administrative Block, Jawan Barrack, Officer and Subordinate Officer Mess, Hospital and Residential accommodation are also proposed in this Camp.
BSF has already established camps in Bareilly, Lucknow and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for Reserve Battalion.
"After establishment of BSF Camp in Greater Noida, personnel belonging to West Uttar Pradesh serving in BSF and retired personnel will get benefits such as residential accommodation, medical, school, and canteen facilities," Joshi said.
"BSF has increased its presence in the hinterlands in last few years. It has an all-India character and is represented by people from all corners of the country.
"But till recently, BSF's presence was limited to states on Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh Borders. Due to continuous deployment in remote border areas, BSF personnel hardly get time to serve near their home towns.
"In order to overcome this problem, concept of hinterland KLPs (headquarters) was introduced by BSF with the approval of Government of India," IG, Admin, Ashok Kumar said.
