The budget session of Puducherry Assembly begins tomorrow with the customary address by the Lt Governor of Puducherry Lt General (retired) A K Singh.
Chief Minister N.Rangasamy, holding the Finance portfolio, would present the full fledged budget for 2014-15 on September 11. The session is likely to last for about ten days.
In view of the Lok Sabha polls in April, the House had passed Appropriation (vote on account) Bill in the previous one-day session held on March 12 earmarking Rs 2,250.09 crores to the government to meet its expenditure during the first six months of the current fiscal.

This is the first session of the Assembly after the Lok Sabha polls which saw ruling AINRC wresting the lone seat in the Union Territory from Congress, whose nominee and former union minister V Narayanasamy lost.
Opposition Congress is likely to raise the issue of alleged malpractices in free rice scheme. Congress has alleged that the government was procuring rice at a higher cost, causing loss to the exchequer.
Rangasamy has rejected the charge as a 'political drama' by the Congress.
The government spends Rs nine crores every month for the scheme under which ten kg of rice was given to ration card holders.
